The Marquette Regional History Center (MRHC) has been awarded a grant of $19,500 from the State of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MACC).
The grant was awarded through the MACC peer review process and was one of 639 applications to compete for MACC fiscal year 2022-2023 funding.
“Grants that fund operations expenses are few and far between. We are very thankful for this grant to help cover a portion of the daily costs of running this museum, library and gift store.”
This grant is for operations of the History Center. It is one of the only operations grants available in Michigan. Receiving these important funds help the small MRHC staff to focus on our mission of providing educational opportunities to our community, as well as the preservation of artifacts and archival materials.
The Marquette Regional History Center is a 501c3, private non-profit organization that was established in 1918. We rely on membership, fundraising events, donations, admission fees, and grants to continue to provide our community and visitors with high quality, educational programming, and exhibits. The History Center also relies on significant volunteer support from the community.
The MACC peer review process allows for each grant application to be competitively
considered by a panel of in-state and out-of-state arts and culture professionals. This ensures the taxpayers, who support this project through legislative appropriations, and all other visitors or residents in Michigan will have access to the highest quality arts and cultural experiences.
