On Friday, October 7, at 1:30 a.m., Michigan State Police Troopers from the Calumet post were for a structure fire at Carla’s Inn and Restaurant, located at 14258 US-41 in Keweenaw Bay, just north of Baraga.
The fire response had US-41 completely shut down until 5:20 a.m. when one lane reopened. The business was heavily damaged in the blaze. State Police Fire Marshal was called to investigate, so at this point, the cause of the fire is still being investigated. No injuries were reported.
Troopers were assisted by Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police, and Baraga Village Police.
Responding fire departments included the Keweenaw Bay Fire Department, Baraga Fire Department, L’Anse Fire Department, as well as other township fire departments.
