WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT TUESDAY…
Heavy, wet snow will continue into Tuesday, mainly inland from Lake Superior, resulting in poor travel conditions. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 12 inches are expected in the higher terrain a few miles inland from Lake Superior with locally higher totals approaching 14 inches possible across the Michigamme Highlands.
Near the shoreline, little or no snow accumulation will occur due to rain only or rain mixing with the snow at times. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph through this evening then as high as 50 mph into Tuesday. Travel could be very difficult to impossible in some high terrain areas. The hazardous conditions will impact the evening commute today and the Tuesday morning commute. Gusty winds and wet snow could bring down tree branches, resulting in potentially widespread power outages. Since this is the first winter storm of the season, extra caution is urged for those who must travel.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON EDT TUESDAY...
Wet snow and strong north winds expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to locally 5 inches, highest over western Alger County well inland of Lake Superior. Little to no accumulation is expected near Lake Superior. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph. Wet snowfall combined with strong winds and lingering fall foliage could result in tree damage and widespread power outages. Since this is the first winter storm of the season, extra caution is urged for those who must travel.

Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. Wet snowfall combined with strong winds and lingering fall foliage could result in sporadic tree damage and power outages.

Wet snow expected across northern portions of the county. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches with less than 1 inch across southern portions of the county along Highway US-2. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. Be prepared for slippery road conditions. Gusty winds and wet snow could bring down tree branches, resulting in sporadic power outages.
