The 22-year-old semi driver accused of crashing into a L’Anse gas station, killing a customer and starting a fire that destroyed the station made his first court appearance on Monday.
Dawaun K. Johnson of University Park, Illinois, was arraigned on a 15-year felony charge of operating while intoxicated causing death. Johnson has been released on a $100,000 bond. He is allowed to leave the state but must return for his next court date, set for early next month.
