The Schoolcraft County Clerk Tuesday night posted the unofficial results for the county.
Republican candidates had a strong night in this conservative county, including the governor, attorney general, Secretary of State, Congress, state senate, and state representative races.
It was Schoolcraft County’s first in the 108th state house district, after being in the 109th for years. Republican Dave Prestin carried Schoolcraft County over Democrat Chris Lopea by almost a 2-to-1 margin.
But two Democrats, Keith Rochefort and Dale Dufour, won seats on the Schoolcraft County Road Commission. Republican Isaac Swisher finished a close third, 67 votes behind Dufour.
All five members of the Schoolcraft County Board of Commissioners will be Republicans, and two of them ran unopposed on Tuesday.
The millage renewal request for the Schoolcraft County Medical Care Facility passed, 2,393 yes votes to 1,341 no. The Manistiqiue Senior Center tax proposal passed by a similiar margin. The Manistique Area Public Schools operating millage proposal also passed, 2,074 yes to 1,213 no.
