There’s been a fatal snowmobile crash in Alger County.
On 12-19-22 at approximately 2100 Hrs, a 911 call was received at the Alger County Sheriff’s Office reporting a snowmobile accident on Trail #7 approximately 1 mile north of the Buckhorn Rd in Autrain Twp. of Alger County. It was determined that the victim was transported from the scene of the accident to her residence on S. Lost Lake Rd.
Michigan State Police, Alger EMS and the Alger County Sheriff’s Department responded to investigate. Upon arrival, all responding units attempted life saving measures however, the victim died at the scene of the call.
The investigation concluded that the 50 year old female was traveling S/B on Trail #7 when she failed to negotiate a curve. The victim exited the trail into a highly wooded area and ultimately struck several trees and was ejected from the snowmobile. The victim’s husband located her and transported her to their residence where he called 911. The victim ultimately died as a result of the injuries sustained. It is unknown at this time any contributing factors of the accident.
The victim’s name is being withheld at this time pending family notifications.
The accident is still under investigation.
