A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 a.m. Friday in Delta, Dickinson, Menominee, Alger, and Schoolcraft Counties.
The National Weather Service says one to three more inches of snow is possible tonight.
In Marquette County, the Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 7 a.m. Friday, as heavy lake effect snow will continue, bringing another two to eight inches.
Police around the Upper Peninsula say roads are still snow-covered and slippery, and travel is not advised unless absolutely necessary tonight. Earlier today, a semi truck went into the ditch at the M-94/M-67 intersection in Alger County, and four other semi trucks got stuck in heavy snow near the M-35/County Road 480 intersection in Marquette County.
Northern Michigan University canceled all of its evening classes, including on-line courses, after being closed during the morning and afternoon.
A number of high school sporting events and extracurricular activities were cancelled for Thursday night as poor road conditions persisted.
