The calendar says it is springtime, but the Upper Peninsula looked more like the middle of winter on Saturday as very heavy snow fell across the region.
It was not a laughing matter for motorists on this April Fool’s Day.
The National Weather Service spent the day collecting snowfall amounts from its weather spotters in all corners of the U.P. The heaviest-hit areas appeared to be Dickinson and Chippewa Counties, while the Copper Country largely missed out on this wintry event.
The following are the snowfall totals, as reported by the National Weather Service. Some of the reports came in while the storm was still going on, so some of the totals may not be the final numbers.
