The Bay College/LSSU Regional Center Business Professionals of America (BPA) student club had a great weekend competing in California.
All three of the club’s students placed in the top three of their respective events at the BPA National Leadership Conference (NLC) in Anaheim, California.
Erik Beals led the way capturing 3 First Place finishes in Device Configuration & Troubleshooting, Computer Security, and Meeting & Event Planning Concepts; 2nd Place in Administrative Support Concepts; and 3rd Place in Parliamentary Procedure Concepts.
Tregan Lippens captured First Place finishes in both Contemporary Issues and Ethics & Professionalism. Both events are public speaking events.
Griffin Johnson, BPA Club President, captured three Third Place finishes in Contemporary Issues, Ethics & Professionalism, and Prepared Speech.
There was a record crowd of over 6,400 contestants this year in Anaheim including both High School and Collegiate competitors.
“My experience at the National Leadership Conference is one of the first steps I’ve taken down a path that will change my life for the better. I would like to thank the Bark River Lions Club, the Rotary Club, the Kiwanis Club, the Community Foundation for Delta County, and the Bay College family for making this a life changing event for us.” states Tregan Lippens.
Officially formed in 1966 as the Office Education Association (OEA), Business Professionals of America (BPA) has a strong history as a student organization that contributes to the preparation of global professionals through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills for students at the Middle, Secondary and Post-secondary levels.
