Bay College has signed a new agreement with another Upper Peninsula college to give students another option to get a four-year degree in a high-demand field.
The new “articulation agreements” are with Bay Mills College out of Brimley, located near Sault Ste. Marie. They will allow students in the Bay College’s Computer Information Systems: Programming and User Support AAS or Computer Network Systems and Security AAS to transfer into Bay Mills’ Computer Information Systems Bachelor’s Degree Program.
“It’s a really fantastic piece for our students in the computer arena,” Bay College President Dr. Laura Coleman told RRN News after Thursday’s signing. “Being able to do networking and programming, and being able to put those things together in a bachelor’s degree increases the amount of income that they’re going to be able to make. Knowing that their classes are all going to transfer is why we do articulation agreements.”
Coleman was joined by Bay Mills College President Dr. Duane Bedell at a ceremony Thursday afternoon in Escanaba.
“It’s really a pleasure when we’re able to do these articulation agreements,” Coleman said. “These degrees cover a wide spectrum of jobs and industries that they can be used in, so they’re very versatile.”
