A Tennessee man escaped injury on Thursday when he swerved to avoid hitting a turkey and instead flipped the trailer he was pulling.
Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies say the accident happened at about 12:30 in the afternoon on US-41, about a half-mile west of the M-95 intersection in Humboldt Township. The 57-year-old was driving a pick-up truck, pulling a 24-foot travel trailer when a large turkey flew in front of him.
Deputies say the brakes locked up, and the trick and trailer fishtailes. The driver tried to control the trailer, but it spun out of control. Both lanes of US-41 were blocked by this, and traffic had to be rerouted onto nearby county roads while the accident scene was cleared.
The man and his wife were both uninjured.
