Bay College, with campuses in Escanaba and Iron Mountain, proudly celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of the Bay College Foundation in its unwavering support for education and student empowerment. Through strategic initiatives, partnerships, and generous community contributions, the Foundation has successfully created transformative opportunities for students and enriched communities.
One of the Foundation’s notable achievements is its Scholarship Program, which has awarded over $600,000 in scholarships to deserving students in the past year. These scholarships not only alleviate financial burdens but also serve as catalysts for academic excellence, enabling students to excel in their chosen programs and reach their full potential.
Through collaborative efforts with partners, donors, and estate gifts, the Foundation has expanded its reach and impact, ensuring that more students have access to necessary resources and opportunities for their educational journey. Recently, the Bay College Foundation facilitated the purchase of educational resources and advanced lab equipment for the healthcare, technology and science departments, including a state-of-the-art spectrometer comparable to those found in top-tier universities.
For the past 32 years, the Bay College Foundation, along with Bay Alumni and Norse Athletics, has sponsored the annual Swing for Scholarships Golf Outing, held on the third Thursday of July. Last year’s proceeds supported scholarships for 26 students and student-athletes, totaling over 400 awards since inception. The community’s generosity towards Bay College has been outstanding, and this year’s event, held at the Escanaba Country Club, is at full capacity.
In addition to championing student success, the Bay College Foundation enriches lives by sponsoring arts and cultural events on campus. The summer Strings on the Bay series runs from June to August, while Lunchtime Live concerts take place on several Tuesdays in July and August. The Escanaba campus itself showcases artworks, including the world’s largest Robert Addison collection, displayed in the Besse Center gallery and throughout the campus.
The success of the Bay College Foundation is due to the unwavering commitment of its donors, whose generosity has transformed lives and turned dreams into reality, regardless of financial barriers. The Foundation expresses heartfelt gratitude to all those who have contributed to its mission, recognizing that their support has not only impacted individual lives but has also had a profound effect on the entire community.
Looking ahead, the Bay College Foundation remains steadfast in its determination to build upon its achievements and continue empowering students while enhancing educational opportunities. With a strong focus on student success, the Foundation aims to expand its scholarship program, develop innovative academic initiatives, and strengthen partnerships to create a lasting impact on students’ lives for years to come.
