On 07/17/2023 at 04:12 hours the City of Ishpeming Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 787 S. Pine Street in the City of Ishpeming.
Upon arrival fire crews found a 2-story duplex with heavy fire showing from a window in the rear of the structure. Initial fire attack was defensive and then transitioned to offensive after the fire was knocked down. Firefighters got the fire under control in about 15 minutes of being on scene. Fire was contained to the first floor of apartment 1 of the duplex.
Crews stayed on scene till 6:00 a.m. checking for any extension or hot spots. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
The building was occupied at the time of the fire and all residents were able to get out. One civilian was transported to Bell Hospital with difficulty breathing. There were no firefighter injuries. Pigs-N-Heat and the Red Cross will be assisting the residents.
