A Florida man is in jail after leading police on a high speed chase through two U.P. counties Wednesday night. The Menominee County Sheriff says it started at about 8:00 in Dickinson County, at speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour.
Police put “stop sticks” on US-2 at the Dickinson County line, but the suspect was able to get by them and the chase continued into Menominee County.
Another set of stop sticks was put in the highway near Powers, but the suspect avoided those as well. The pursuit then headed south down US-2-and-41, and onto a number of county roads. Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop on a two-track road in Nadeau Township. The suspect…a 53-year-old Florida man with ties to our area, was taken into custody without further incident. Fortunately, no one was hurt in this dangerous incident.
