On February 16, 2025, Colton Troy Brunette and Tristan Russell Halfaday were arrested by the Delta County Sheriff’s Office after a traffic stop. In the course of their investigation, Halfaday was located with a pistol on his person.
Further search of the vehicle found the following controlled substances: approximately 136.12 grams of cocaine, 35.43 grams of powdered fentanyl, 64.94 grams of “blue pill” fentanyl, 61.83 grams of MDMA, 1.950 grams of Ketamine, and a large variety of prescription drugs, including gabapentin pills, amphetamine pills, and psilocybin mushroom.
On February 18, 2025, Colton Troy Brunette, 24, was arraigned in the 94th District Court on four (4) felony charges:
- Conspiracy to Deliver/Manufacture Narcotics (50 to 449 grams), punishable by up to 20 years, and/or a $10,000 fine.
- Conspiracy to Deliver/Manufacture Ketamine, punishable by up to 7 years, and/or a $10,000 fine.
- Conspiracy to Deliver/Manufacture Fentanyl, punishable by up to 7 years, and/or a $10,000 fine.
- Conspiracy to Deliver/Manufacture Methamphetamine, punishable by up to 20 years, and/or a $25,000 fine.
Bond was set for Brunette at $75,000, cash/surety. He is to be under basic house arrest, with a GPS Tether, cannot possess alcohol, controlled substances, marijuana, or other mind-altering drugs. Must submit to random alcohol and drug testing.
On February 18, 2025, Tristan Russell Halfaday, 20, was arraigned in the 94th District Court on eight (8) felony charges:
- Conspiracy to Deliver/Manufacture Narcotics (50 to 449 grams), punishable by up to 20 years, and/or a $10,000 fine.
- Conspiracy to Deliver/Manufacture Ketamine, punishable by up to 7 years, and/or a $10,000 fine.
- Conspiracy to Deliver/Manufacture Fentanyl, punishable by up to 7 years, and/or a $10,000 fine.
- Weapons—carrying a concealed weapon, specifically a pistol, punishable by up to 5 years, and/or a $2,500 fine.
- Weapons—carrying a concealed weapon, specifically a knife, punishable by up to 5 years, and/or a $2,500 fine.
- Weapons—carrying a concealed weapon, specifically a knife, punishable by up to 5 years, and/or a $2,500 fine.
- Felony firearm, punishable by up to 2 years, served consecutive to any other conviction.
- Conspiracy to Deliver/Manufacture Methamphetamine, punishable by up to 20 years, and/or a $25,000 fine.
Bond was set for Halfaday at $85,000, cash/surety. He is to be under basic house arrest, with a GPS Tether, cannot possess alcohol, controlled substances, marijuana, or other mind-altering drugs. Must submit to random alcohol and drug testing.
Brunette and Halfaday will next appear in 94th District Court for a Probable Cause Conference, which is closed to the public, on February 27, 2025. Brunette and Halfaday are currently scheduled for a Preliminary Examination in the 9th District Court on March 6, 2025.
