A Marquette man has been arraigned on felony embezzlement charges.
Brian Thomas Parsons was arraigned in 96th District Court on Thursday, accused of taking between $1,000 to $20,000 from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5760 in Gwinn.
The Forsyth Township Police Department says that Parsons was taken into custody at his residence located in the City of Marquette on March 18th.
The arrest comes at the conclusion of a several-month-long investigation conducted by the Forsyth Township Police Department. Officials determined that Parsons had embezzled several thousand dollars from the VFW post.
The investigation was initiated by the VFW Post 5670′s command staff noticed several discrepancies within the post’s financial reports. The information was immediately turned over to the Forsyth Township Police Department for further investigation.
Upon conducting an in-depth review of the VFW Post 5670’s financial documents, records, and accounts, the investigation confirmed that
Parsons, who had been volunteering at Post 5670, had embezzled several thousand dollars over the course of multiple years while overseeing the finances as part of his duties.
The Forsyth Township Police Department was assisted by the Marquette City Police Department and the VFW Post 5670 (Gwinn).
