Over the past few years, the Salvation Army in Menominee and Marinette has experienced a 50 percent decline in monetary giving while the need continues to grow in the community.
In 2021, the pantry filled 274 grocery orders for individuals and families in need; in 2024 that number was 774.
Other programs such as the meal program, mobile pantry, rent and utility assistance and seasonal assistance such as Back to School, Coats for Kids and Christmas also continue to increase.
Major Rhegan Stansbury said, “We have seen a lot of donor confusion through our mail appeal process because the of an address change. Everything now goes straight to our processing center in Iowa. We want to reassure our donors that these funds are still staying local and streamlining our mail appeal system saves us time and money. These declines in giving are starting to affect our day to day ability to serve folks in need. We know times are tough right now, but we have faith that this community can rally to support us.”
“We are watching our funding very closely,” said Major Joshua Stansbury. “While we remain fully committed to our mission, the recent decline in monetary donations has required us to make some difficult decisions—adjusting staffing and programming, and in some cases, discontinuing certain efforts altogether.”
Donations can be dropped off at 80 W Russell St in Marinette, mailed directly to our PO Box 495, Marinette, WI 54143, or make an online donation at www.samarinette.org
