The Roman Catholic Diocese of Marquette announces the ordinations of Mark Beukema, Drew Langton and Tyler Rivard to the “transitional” diaconate. Beukema, Langton and Rivard are scheduled to be ordained to the diaconate on Friday, May 16 at 3:30 p.m. ET at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette. Bishop John Doerfler will be the principal celebrant, with the priests of the diocese concelebrating.
Beukema, Langton and Rivard have been studying at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. God willing, they will be ordained to the priesthood in 2026. Transitional deacons are clergy who are in the process of becoming priests in the Catholic Church.
Beukema is from Davisburg, Mich., and is the son of Roger and the late Patricia Beukema. His home parish is St. John and St. Joseph in Ishpeming.
Langton is from Rockwood, Mich., and is the son of Jeffrey and Donna Langton. His home parishes are St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph in Ishpeming.
Rivard is from Cornell, Mich., and is the son of Jim and Michelle Rivard. His home parish is All Saints in Gladstone.
The ordination Mass is open to the public. A light reception will take place in the cathedral hall following the Mass.
