Forsyth Township Police on Monday released more information about a traffic crash that claimed the life of an Escanaba man last Friday.
The FTPD identified the driver of the motorcycle as 58-year-old Glenn Daniel Varney. Officers say he was traveling westbound on M-35 near County Road 557 at 4:30 Friday afternoon when he lost control of the vehicle, ran off the roadway into the shoulder, and striking a telephone pole.
Law enforcement closed off the road and began immediate resuscitation efforts, but Varney was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The FTPD says it’s unknown if any other factors contributed to the incident.

They were assisted on the scene by Forsyth Fire & EMS, UPHS-Marquette, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Marquette County Central Dispatch and several bystanders.
