On June 26, 2025, a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Wakefield Post was on patrol and observed a subject he knew had a revoked driver’s license operating a vehicle on Hemlock Street near Cedar Street. The trooper activated his patrol car’s emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop of the vehicle.
The vehicle was very slow to stop. The vehicle came to an eventual slow rolling stop on W. Ayer Street near King Street. It was approximately 300 feet from the Iron Belle Trail.
The trooper’s investigation resulted in suspected methamphetamine being located in the vehicle. The suspect was placed under arrest and lodged in the Gogebic County Jail.
On June 27, 2025, 35-year-old Andrew Mills was arraigned in the 98th District Court in Bessemer on charges including one count of Possession of Methamphetamine, one count of Possession of Methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a Park, and Operating with a Revoked Driver’s License. His bond was set at $50,000 (10 percent allowed) with conditions.
MSP was assisted by Ironwood Public Safety Department, Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office, and Iron County Sheriff’s Office. The defendant carries the presumption of innocence until/unless convicted in a court of law.
