An Escanaba man has been sentenced to federal prison time after pleading guilty to trying to get a young child to perform sex acts that he could then videotape.
Escanaba Public Safety says that 30-year-old Justin Miller was sentenced to 17 years behind bars, plus a lifetime parole after he’s released. Miller was sentenced in a northern Indiana federal court after an investigation that included agencies in Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin.
Detectives determined that during August and September 2022 while living in Escanaba, Miller misrepresented himself as a 14-year-old male using social media to persuade and entice a minor under the age of 12 to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing photos and videos.
Officers found that Miller was conducting those acts from his residence in Escanaba after they executed multiple search warrants. A subsequent search of the residence resulted in the discovery of electronic devices containing evidence to support the initial allegations.
