Mo’s Pub, a popular sports bar and grill in downtown Escanaba, was destroyed by fire on Monday.
Escanaba Public Safety Director John Gudwer says they called in numerous other departments to help out, some from as far as an hour away. With temperatures in the 80’s with humidity to match, Gudwer says the health of the firefighters was closely monitored, and the outside help allowed them to rotate crews.
Gudwer says the fire started in the kitchen, but they don’t know yet what caused it. Everyone got out of the building safely. He says that while the shell of the building remains standing, everything inside was destroyed and the business is considered to be a total loss.
It’s the fourth major fire in Escanaba in the last seven months, with the Stonehouse Restaurant, Bonifas Art Center, and UP Towing and Recycling being the other three. Posted below is video footage of RRN News coverage of the fire.
