The owners of Mo’s Pub took to social media on Tuesday, one day after their downtown Escanaba restaurant was destroyed by fire.
In a post on Facebook, they thanked the numerous firefighters, law enforcement, volunteers, and first responders for their work during extremely hot conditions.
They also thanked the community at-large, saying that their “kindness and support have lifted us in our darkest hour.”
A special fund has been set up at the Upper Peninsula State Bank to help the employees who are suddenly out of work. The account is under “Mo’s Pub Team Members” and you can donate at any of the bank’s locations.
“Every gesture, no matter how small, brings hope and relief to those who have given so much of themselves to our community,” the post continued.
In addition, many other Escanaba-area residents are pitching in with Mo’s Pub donation buckets at their check-out registers, and some even offering to donate some of their proceeds or tips to the cause.
The Facebook post concluded with a request for privacy, but also with a desire to rebuild their business.
Mo’s Pub, well-known for its large TV screens, pizza, beer, and hamburgers, and even breakfast, burned Monday afternoon. While the shell of the building is still standing, Escanaba Public Safety Director John Gudwer told RRN News that everything inside the building was destroyed and was a “total loss”.
