Michigan State Police Calumet Post wish to inform the public of a scam circulating in the area.
The scammers are claiming to be from the Sex Offender Compliance Division. The scammers are requesting personal information, or financials and are threating arrest.We want to remind the public to be aware of the signs of a scam.
1.) Unsolicited contact either by phone/text or electronic methods.
2.) There is a problem or a prize.
3.) They pressure you to act immediately or “face consequences or lose the prize”
4.) They ultimately ask for financial information or payment and only accept odd forms of payment.
Michigan State Police Calumet Post reminds the public to be aware of the signs and to not give out personal or financial information. If you think something is off or does not feel right, hang up and call the local phone number for law enforcement.
