An 18-year-old driver was ejected and injured in a rollover crash on I-75 this afternoon after losing control of his vehicle and not wearing a seatbelt.
On October 21, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Sault Ste. Marie Post responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on southbound I-75 near 3 Mile Road in Soo Township.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the passenger car was traveling southbound on I-75 when the driver left the road into the median and lost control of the vehicle. The car then rolled over, and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver, an 18-year-old man from Dafter, sustained serious injuries and was transported to MyMichigan Medical Center Sault for treatment. No other vehicles or passengers were involved. The incident remains under investigation. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been factors. Both southbound and northbound lanes of I-75 were partially closed while emergency personnel responded, and troopers conducted the on-scene investigation. As of 6:40 p.m. on October 21, 2025, all lanes of I-75 have been fully reopened.
MSP was assisted by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department, Sault Tribe Police Department, Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department, Soo Township Fire Department, US Border Patrol, and Chippewa County Central Dispatch.
