Michigan State Police are offering Upper Peninsula residents some advice when it comes to celebrating Halloween.
Michigan State Police Lieutenant Ben Eckola in Marquette says adult partiers need to stay sober or have a designated driver. And, he says, watch out for the excited kids.
“Definitely be mindful during those hours when Trick of Treaters are out, to make sure you’re driving slow and appropriate speeds, especially in residential neightborhoods,” Eckola told RRN News. “With it being on a Friday, we do anticipate that there will be more people, adults, out and about.”
And for the kids?
“Stick to areas and neighborhoods that you know are participating,” Eckola said. “Walk on the sidewalks if you can. Make sure you watch out for traffic. If kids are going in a group, make sure you stick together as a group.”
Also, Eckola says State Police are launching a winter coat drive. You can drop off new or gently-used coats at State Police facilities in Marquette or the Sault Ste. Marie facilities during regular weekday business hours. That winter clothing will go to the needy in the area where they are donated.
