Upper Peninsula Power Company is actively working to restore power to more than 2,200 customers across Alger, Baraga, Delta, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, Marquette, Menominee, and Schoolcraft counties. All available UPPCO crews, in addition to contract crews secured in advance, have been dispatched to restore service.
Heavy, wet snow and strong, gusting winds are the main cause for service disruption. As trees accumulate snow, the additional weight causes limbs to dip and lay onto distribution lines.
“We understand how disruptive outages can be. Our teams prepared for this storm in advance, and we are executing our restoration plan designed to safely restore power as quickly and efficiently as possible.” said Dan Freeborn, Manager of Communications and External Affairs.
Never approach or touch a downed power line or anything in contact with one. If you see a downed line, stay at least 35 feet away and report it to Customer Service immediately by calling (906) 449-2011.
