The City of Escanaba reminds residents of the following garbage and recycling collection schedule and important placement guidelines to ensure timely pickup.
Collection Schedule:
| Garbage Collection Day | Recycling Collection Day |
| Monday or Tuesday | 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month |
| Thursday or Friday | 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month |
| 5th Wednesday: Commercial recycling only |
To Ensure Your Cans Are Picked Up Every Week:
• Place cans at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on collection day.
• Allow at least 3 feet of clearance around each can from all objects, including other cans, vehicles, garages, buildings, fences, poles, and mailboxes.
• Cans must sit flat on the ground and be completely shoveled out. Cans surrounded by snow or blocked by other garbage bags will not be collected.
• Lids must be fully closed, and all garbage or recycling must fit inside the can. Items or bags left outside the can will not be collected.
• If your can has always been placed in the same spot and is not being collected, it is likely too close to another object.
Garbage Guidelines:
• All garbage must be bagged and placed inside the garbage can.
• Garbage left outside the can will not be collected.
• Do not place bins out more than 12 hours before collection.
• Bins must be removed within 12 hours after pickup.
• If you need an additional cart, contact Public Works.
• New carts cost $65.
Recycling Guidelines:
• All recyclables must be placed inside a recycling container.
• Recycling carts containing garbage will not be collected.
• Food-contaminated items (such as pizza boxes) are not recyclable.
• Place cardboard, paper, plastic, and metal together in your recycling cart, or take them to the Delta County Landfill.
