Aurora Global Defense Systems has officially withdrawn its proposal to purchase the former UW–Green Bay Marinette Campus. The company submitted the proposal earlier this week but says after reviewing public feedback, it’s clear the community’s voice matters.
In a statement, Aurora says it recognizes the campus as a valued community asset and wants to honor the prevailing opinion of Marinette residents regarding its future. Aurora also expressed hope that Marinette County and the City of Marinette will work together to repurpose the property in a way that reflects the needs and desires of the community.
While the proposal has been pulled, Aurora Global Defense Systems says it remains committed to the region. The company says it plans to continue expanding its workforce and supporting job growth in Marinette County and Menominee, Michigan, with a focus on strengthening the local workforce across the surrounding area.
