At approximately 3:20 a.m. this morning, the Wakefield Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 412 Sunday Lake Street. Multiple agencies assisted under extremely dangerous conditions, with wind chills reaching -46°F
All occupants were able to exit safely, and no injuries were reported. Unfortunately, the structure is a total loss.
The City extends its sincere appreciation to all responding fire, law enforcement, medical, utility, and support agencies for their professionalism and teamwork.

Emergency operations have concluded
All roads are now open (use caution—roads may be icy)
The site may smolder for several days, but it does not pose a threat to the public
The area will continue to be monitored by the Wakefield Fire Department and the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office
