A Menominee County courtroom was silent Friday morning as a judge handed down a lengthy prison sentence in a deeply disturbing criminal sexual conduct case.
Eighty-two-year-old Ralph Joseph Khollman pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving his own teenage daughter. Menominee County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jerry Krafka…
The court said Khollman’s actions caused lifelong harm to the victim and tore apart the family.
During sentencing, Judge Christopher S. Ninomiya also spoke directly to the victim, acknowledging the courage it took to come forward. The judge made it clear protecting the public was a major factor in the decision.
Khollman was sentenced to a minimum of just over seven years and up to twenty years in prison.
In addition to prison time, Khollman must register as a sex offender and is prohibited from contacting the victim or her family. The judge said the sentence reflects the severity of the crime and sends a clear message that sexual abuse of children will be met with the harshest penalties under the law.
