Due to significant road safety concerns identified by the Delta County Road Commission, the following Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District member districts will not hold school on Thursday, March 19, 2026:
Bark River-Harris Schools
Delta-Schoolcraft ISD, (including The Learning Center and its Satellite Classrooms and Small Wonders)
Escanaba Area Public Schools
Gladstone Area Schools
Rapid River Schools
Hannahville Nah Tah Wahsh PSA
Mid Peninsula Schools.
Road conditions created by recent weather events pose significant risks for student transportation in much of the area, and we have been advised that conditions will not improve sufficiently by tomorrow morning to ensure safe travel for buses and families. Student safety is always our highest priority, and because road officials have expressed serious concerns about transportation safety, we are acting out of an abundance of caution.
Families should monitor school communication channels for updates regarding events and practices as well as Friday’s schedule. We appreciate the road commission’s proactive communication and the understanding of our families and staff as we make this decision in the best interest of student safety.
