Menominee Resurrection Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been awarded an $800 grant from the Women’s Giving Circle Endowment Fund held at the M&M Area Community Foundation. The Women’s Giving Circle began in 2008 when an anonymous donor made a gift to the M&M Area Community Foundation to support women’s philanthropy.
The funds will go towards helping those less fortunate get a restful night’s sleep. Individuals spend a third of their lives in sleep, but there are too many single Mother’s in our community who can’t sleep at night because she doesn’t have a place to rest with her children. Whether moving into subsidized housing, in the process of leaving the homeless shelter, or due to bed bugs, it is not uncommon to find an air mattress on which several of our client’s and their children sleep. We are proud to partner with the Women’s Giving Circle to provide single Mother’s, registered with our food pantry, a voucher that will be honored by the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Marinette for a new mattress.
“It is critical, especially for children in impoverished families, to get a good night’s rest to support good health and provide the energy necessary for educational success,” said Molly Kamarainen, Board Member of the Menominee Resurrection Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. “By partnering with the Women’s Giving Circle and the M&M Area Community Foundation, we will now be able to provide single Mother’s with one less worry, a new mattress and Hopeful Dreams.”
