The man involved in Sunday night’s shooting incident at K-I Sawyer was in critical condition on Monday at UP-Health System Marquette.
Michigan State Police say the unidentified 68-year-old man was distraught when township police officers and county sheriffs deputies arrived at the scene on Crusader Street.
When officers tried to talk to the man, he allegedly fired a shot out of the window in the officers’ direction. Troopers then were called in to assist, and the man allegedly refused to put down the gun and fired more shots. Eventually, the man came outside and pointed the gun at police, and that’s when a trooper shot the man. The trooper who shot the suspect has been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues.
