Dick Ketcik has been awarded the Schoolcraft County Veteran of the Year.
All Schoolcraft Veterans Groups have agreed that we need to recognize a Schoolcraft County Veteran who goes up and beyond the call of duty.
Although there are many Veterans who work hard in our community, Dick Ketcik was the obvious and unanimous choice for the first Schoolcraft County Veteran of the Year award.
At the Veterans Day Ceremony at the Manistique High School, Dick Ketcik was rightfully awarded the first Schoolcraft County 2019 Veterans Award.
I might add Dick did not know this was going to happen – he was completely caught in the moment.
The packed auditorium immediately gave Dick Ketcik a standing ovation, even though Dick tried to mask his emotions – I could see the tears running down his face.
It was quite the experience of watching several MAS students line up to give Dick Ketcik a hug. We sure have a great school district that shows so much respect for our veterans.
