Troopers from the Gladstone Post were dispatched to a residence in Harris Township, Menominee county, at approximately 12:30pm (EST) on 11-19-19.
Investigation at the scene revealed a deceased male that appeared to have died as a result of foul play.
The victim has been identified as Michael Donovan, 74 years of age, a Menominee county resident.
A forensic autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
A male subject has been arrested on Open Murder charges and lodged in the Menominee county jail. The name of the arrested is being withheld pending arraignment in 95th District Court, Menominee, MI.
The Marquette Crime Lab was contacted and responded to the scene. The Michigan State Police are investigating this as a homicide. A suspect has been located and is in police custody.
Investigators have no reason to believe there are any other suspects at large.
Tuesday’s incident forced the Bark River-Harris and Hannahville Indian Schools to both be placed on external lockdowns. Students att BR-H were dismissed at their normal afternoon times, while Hannahville students left in a 3:15 bus. Hannahville cancelled all evening activities at the school.
Assisting troopers and detectives at the scene are the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department, Hannahville Tribal Police, DNR Conservation Officers, and the Harris Township Volunteer Fire Department.
