This Christmas season, one Upper Peninsula artist is making it possible to give a unique gift of jewelry while making a donation to your local Arts Center – all in one purchase!
Jewelry Designer Beth Millner has chosen the Bonifas Arts Center this year as one non-profit organization for which she has designed a unique sterling silver pendant and will share pendant sale profits.
The specifically designed sterling silver pendant will be on sale now through Oct. 31, 2020, at a cost of $125 each, with $50 of that going to the Bonifas Arts Center. Chains are sold separately, starting from $20 each. Purchases can be made online at https://www.bethmillner.com/collections/fundraiser-jewelry or at the Beth Millner Jewelry store in Marquette at 521 W. Washington St. The pendant is that of a Plein Air (in the open) Painter.
Some of Millner’s favorite natural places in the Upper Peninsula have been direct inspirations in many of her pieces, including her design of the Plein Air Painter for the Bonifas pendant.
“When I think of the Bonifas Arts Center, paintings are what immediately come to mind. I wanted to create a beautiful U.P. scene that a Plein Air artist would want to go out and paint. The banks of the AuTrain River really inspired me in particular,” Millner said. “I also saw a woman in my mind out there in her straw hat creating on the river. I feel that woman should be more represented in the arts, so I wanted to design a piece that had a female being the focal point.
“We believe artists are the soul of our culture and community,” Millner continued. “Now, you can celebrate the creators that shape our vision of the world with our new Plein Air Artist Pendant.”
To see the pendant designed by Beth Millner prior to purchasing it, visit the Bonifas Arts Center, located at 700 1st Ave. So., Escanaba; there is a sample pendant and chain in a shadow box on display at the front desk, along with information cards.
The other three non-profit organizations Millner is working with this year are: the Peter White Public Library, Iron Ore Heritage Trail and the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum.
So far, Beth Millner Jewelry has donated $28,000 to local organizations through its Fundraiser Pendant Program.
