CLOVERLAND 8:00 a.m. UPDATE 1/3/2020— We know it’s a tough Friday morning for about 3,500 co-op members awaiting power after a very long week. Our crews are already back to work loading up on supplies for a full day’s work ahead. With mutual aid that has greatly strengthened our force, we hope to make steady progress today.
Great news Sugar Islanders – crews are headed your way this morning! It will take lots of patrolling to assess storm damage and restoration could be lengthy as it’s been in other places, but we’ll be there. Please know these outage restorations have been slow going due to the extensive damage to lines and equipment.
To give a sense of the magnitude of storm damage, linemen who have worked in hurricane disaster recovery efforts have said they’ve never seen this level of storm destruction in the U.P.
