The 53rd Annual CBC Fund Drive is kicking off its 2020 fundraising season. CBC is an organization in Schoolcraft County of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula that raises funds for the American Cancer Society, Bay Cliff Health Camp, and Community Charities – hence “CBC”.
From our humble beginnings in 1968 on WTIQ Radio in Manistique, CBC has become an annual fundraiser that has generated over $1.7 Million in funds for the charities.
Many community events are held during the winter months that benefit the CBC Fund Drive. Events such as the basketball and volleyball tournaments draw participants from a wide area. May local pubs and clubs hold CBC events such as a celebrity bartender and prize auction, brown bag auction, trap & skeet shoot, and wine/beer tasting social. These events have become very popular during the long UP winters.
CBC culminates with the Radio-a-Thon held at the Manistique High School on Palm Sunday (April 5, 2020) which features local talent, food, kid’s games, and health booths. The public may bid (online, phone in, or in person) on the many donated items such as arts and crafts, home products, Lake Freighter luncheons, get aways, sports memorabilia, etc. Cash donations and pledges are also accepted online, phoned in, or in person. See our website for more info – www.cbcschoolcraft.org.
To keep such a great tradition going – takes volunteers. We THANK all the volunteers who have made CBC the success it has been to date and we THANK all who plan to help us again in 2020. However, as we all know things change and we are in need of some additional help this fundraising season. Your participation can be as small or big as you want. Please call anyone on our Committee and start the process of helping keep such a great local tradition continue. One of the greatest gifts you can give is your TIME! Please volunteer.
