On 02/13/20, at 2:39 a.m., Escanaba Public Safety Department responded to the report of a fire in the laundry room at Northwood’s Place at 501 S. Lincoln Road. Upon arrival, officers found that the laundry room was filled with smoke and the automatic sprinkler system had been activated.
The sprinkler system contained the fire to the contents inside the dryer which was quickly extinguished by officers upon entry. The building sustained smoke and water damage resulting from the sprinkler system activation.
Public safety officers, assisted by the Delta County Sheriff’s Department and Rampart EMS, were on scene and ready to assist Northwood’s staff in the evacuation of residents, although due to sprinkler system containing the fire, it was not required.
No injuries were reported by residents, staff, or first responders.
