Ryan Anderson has won the U-P 200 Sled Dog race at the Lower Harbor in Marquette. The Minnesota native who now lives in Cushing, Wisconsin, finished at just after 10:00 Sunday morning, doing the race in just under 22 hours, 28 minutes. It was the eighth time that he won this race.
He wins the top prize of 78-hundred dollars for the victory.
Ryan Redington from Skagway, Alaska was the second musher to cross the finish line at 10:35 in the morning, doing the race in 23 hours and one minute. The second place portion of the purse was 61-hundred dollars.
In third place was Martin Massicotte of Quebec, Canada, who came across at 11:02 in the morning. He and his dogs did the race in 23 hours, 28 minutes. He won 47-hundred dollars.
A total of 17 teams finished the race, which began Friday night in downtown Marquette, and wound through the woods of Marquette and Alger Counties.
The U.P. 200 Awards Banquet will be held at 8:00 Monday morning at the Holiday Inn.
