Updated facts and data from the Dickinson County Healh Care System on the cornavirus as of Thursday:
DCH has collected twenty-two specimens that have been sent to be tested for COVID19. DCH has received nine test results, all have been negative. Lab testing time has taken longer than expected due to the high volumes of COVID-19 tests that have been sent in for testing. We will keep you updated as future test results are received.
In the continuing effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 throughout Dickinson County and our surrounding areas, Dickinson County Healthcare System (DCH) has today, opened the Dickinson COVID-19 Respiratory Clinic.
The Dickinson COVID-19 Respiratory Clinic offers a centralized testing and treatment area, offsite of the hospital, to triage and screen patients who could not be seen in their provider’s clinic. The clinic welcomes all providers to refer patients who are exhibiting respiratory symptoms consistent with the COVID-19 disease.
The clinic’s hours of operation are 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. Monday thru Friday, and providers are instructed to please call 906-776-5913 to set up an appointment;
There is no rapid testing at this clinic but any blood drawn or swabs, including strep will be collected at this clinic and sent to our main lab for processing;
The referrals are for any suspected Respiratory symptoms that may lead to a Person Under Investigation (PUI) and or COVID testing. For example: if someone returns from travel and is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, they are instructed to call their provider for further evaluation.
The provider may decide that based on the circumstances and symptoms, the patient should receive further medical screening. Rather than having the patient present at the clinic or ED, the patient can be referred to the COVID-19 Respiratory Clinic where they will be seen and treated.
If you are sick and experiencing serious respiratory problems, please call your care provider or the DCH COVID-19 Hotline at 906-776-5858.
