There’s been a fatal house fire in the western Upper Peninsula.
It happened Tuesday night at around 9:00 in the City of Bessemer.
Michigan State Police say the call came at 213 Sellar Street, and when crews got there, the home was fully engulfed.in flames. Troopers tried to go inside to find people, but were unable too due to the intense flames and smoke.
After the Bessemer City and Bessemer Township Fire Departments put out the flames, troopers went inside and discovered that a person had perished in the residence.
That person is not being identified until family members are notified.
The Michigan State Police Fire Marshall and an MSP Accelerant Detection K-9 have been called in to investigate the cause of the fire. The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department helped at the scene Tuesday night.
