Marinette County Public Health received $6000 and $1500 grants from the Youth Field of Interest Endowed Fund held at the M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF).
Marinette County Public Health will use this grant to support Child Passenger Safety and Bike Helmet Safety. Our Child Passenger Safety Program’s goal is to support Marinette County families so their children are safe in car seats. Grant funding will support our efforts of providing free car seats for financially disadvantaged families, ensuring children are in the proper car seat for their age and size. Bike safety and properly fitted bike helmets can reduce injuries by 45%. Grant funding will support our goal of reducing unintentional injuries.
Marinette County Public Health is the lead agency for Safe Kids Marinette County Coalition, which was established in 2014. Bringing health and safety advocates together, coalition members include public health, law enforcement, fire fighters, schools, child advocates and other community partners. The coalition strives to create safer environments and a healthy community for children.
The M&M Area Community Foundation was founded in 1994. Grant funding through the MMACF is made available through charitable contributions of local donors through endowments, established and managed by the MMACF to support local nonprofit organizations. Marinette County Public Health is appreciative of the partnership with grant funding from MMACF, supporting efforts to keep children safe.
Thank you M&M Community Foundation for the grant donations. For more information on how to become a volunteer or to support Safe Kids Marinette County Coalition, contact Marinette County Public Health at 715-732-7670.
