Several New Positive Tests In U.P.; 389 New Cases Statewide

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported on Friday afternoon that there were 389 new positive coronavirus cases in the state, and there was one new death  in the state.

Among the positive cases were three employees from an assisted living facility in L’Anse. The three Bayside Village employees had no symptoms and were in isolation at home. They were tested as part of the state’s mandatory testing at nursing homes and assisted living facilities around Michigan.

There was also one new case reported in both Marquette and Menominee Counties on Friday, and one new death was reported in Delta County.

There have been 147 confirmed positive cases and 17 deaths linked to COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula.

Michigan now has 62,695 confirmed positive cases and 5,888 COVID-19 deaths.

Nearly 1,000 people were tested at the Berry Events Center in Marquette last weekend, and the Marquette County Health Department reported two positive tests.

Michigan also tracks “probable” cases and deaths. Those are people who do not have a positive test result confirmed, but health officials believe their illnesses or deaths were related to COVID-19.

As of Friday, the state lists an additional 6,634 cases and 246 deaths in the “probable” category.

There have also been eight “probable” cases listed in the Upper Peninsula.

As of Friday, the state completed 1,150,463 tests, including 151,973 tests for antibodies and 998,490 diagnostic tests.
