The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported on Saturday afternoon that there were 314 new positive coronavirus cases in the state, and there were 19 new deaths in the state.
Michigan now has 63,009 confirmed positive cases and 5,907 COVID-19 deaths.
The state now lists 51,099 people as having “recovered”. This means that they are still alive at least 30 days after having a positive test confirmed, or being diagnosed with COVID-19.
There were two new cases reported in the Upper Peninsula on Sature y: in Gogebic and Menominee Counties. There was also one new death reported in the U.P.: in Iron County, which was the first for the county.
There have been 149 confirmed positive cases and 18 deaths linked to COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula.
Michigan also tracks “probable” cases and deaths. Those are people who do not have a positive test result confirmed, but health officials believe their illnesses or deaths were related to COVID-19.
As of Saturday, the state lists an additional 6,670 cases and 246 deaths in the “probable” category.
There have also been seven “probable” cases listed in the Upper Peninsula.
As of Saturday, the state completed 1,172,764 tests, including 154,909 tests for antibodies and 1,017,855 diagnostic tests.

Note on recovery: During this response, MDHHS is reviewing vital records statistics to identify any laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases who are 30 days out from their onset of illness to represent recovery status. As the pandemic continues to impact Michigan, this pool will expand to include more cases. Recovered is defined as the number of persons with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who are alive 30 days post-onset (or referral date if onset is not available). The number of persons recovered on June 26, 2020 represents COVID-19 confirmed individuals with an onset date on or prior to May 27, 2020. If an individual dies from a COVID-related cause >30 days from onset/referral, they are removed from the number of persons recovered. These numbers will be updated every Saturday.
