The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported on Sunday afternoon that there were 252 new positive coronavirus cases in the state, and there were five new deaths in the state.
Michigan now has 63,261 confirmed positive cases and 5,912 COVID-19 deaths.
There were three new cases reported in the U.P. on Sunday: two in Chippewa County and one in Menominee County. Menominee County has now had six new cases reported in the past five days.
Also over the weekend, deaths were reported in Delta and Iron Counties, the first two COVID-19 related deaths in the Upper Peninsula since May 30.
Michigan also tracks “probable” cases and deaths. Those are people who do not have a positive test result confirmed, but health officials believe their illnesses or deaths were related to COVID-19.
As of Sunday, the state lists an additional 6,685 cases and 246 deaths in the “probable” category.
There have been 152 confirmed positive cases and 18 deaths linked to COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula.
There have also been seven “probable” cases listed in the Upper Peninsula.
The state now lists 51,099 people as having “recovered”. This means that they are still alive at least 30 days after having a positive test confirmed, or being diagnosed with COVID-19.
As of Sunday, the state completed 1,190,816 tests, including 156,996 tests for antibodies and 1,033,820 diagnostic tests.
