The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported on Thursday afternoon that there were 543 new positive coronavirus cases in the state, and there were two new deaths in the state.
Of those listed in the state report, eleven new cases were reported for Upper Peninsula counties.
However, after the state report came out, the the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department announced two more positive test results in Dickinson County. Those two cases have been included in the list below.
Also not included in the state report: a positive case for Chippewa County, of a resident who flew between Traverse City and Florida.
The state report shows five new cases in Marquette County, where the health department says it is investigating possible links to youth sporting events in the area.
Houghton County added two new cases, while Delta, Menominee and Iron Counties all added one new case.
Delta County also added a “probable” case to its total.
Michigan now has 64,675 confirmed positive cases and 5,966 COVID-19 deaths.
Besides the two new deaths in Michigan, the state also went back through death certificates and matched them to people who had a positive test result and have died. They added 13 more deaths to the state’s total using that method.
Michigan also tracks “probable” cases and deaths. Those are people who do not have a positive test result confirmed, but health officials believe their illnesses or deaths were related to COVID-19.
As of Thursday, the state lists an additional 7,003 cases and 246 deaths in the “probable” category.
According to the state report, there have been 173 confirmed positive cases and 18 deaths linked to COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula. There have also been nine “probable” cases listed in the Upper Peninsula.
The list below also includes the Dickinson and Chippewa County cases that were reported locally.
The state now lists 51,099 people as having “recovered”. This means that they are still alive at least 30 days after having a positive test confirmed, or being diagnosed with COVID-19. That was last updated on Saturday, June 27.
As of Thursday, the state completed 1,267,979 tests, including 165,567 tests for antibodies and 1,102,412 diagnostic tests.
