The Marquette County Health Department says that there were two positive COVID-19 cases from the massive beach party that was held on Marquette’s McCarty Cove on the 4th of July weekend.
The party drew hundreds of people from all over the Upper Peninsula, and even from other states.
Videos and photos of crowds of young people were posted on social media of people swimming, and drinking alcohol, with no apparent social distancing.
The Marquette County Health Department says that “outdoor social gatherings, even among asymptomatic young people, can cause community transmission of COVID-19”.
Anyone who was at that party are being urged to monitor themselves for symptoms.
