The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported Saturday afternoon 678 new coronavirus cases and two new deaths.
State officials also went back through death certificates to match previous positive test results to deaths. They added seven more deaths to Michigan’s total using that method. Those people could have died or weeks ago, according to the MDHHS.
Michigan now has 73,180 confirmed positive cases and 6,115 COVID-19 deaths.
The state also updated its number on recoveries. These are people who are still alive at least 30 days after testing positive or being diagnosed with COVID-19. The state now lists 55,162 people as recovered, which is 1,295 more recoveries in the past week.
In the Upper Peninsula, there have now been 320 confirmed positive cases and 18 deaths linked to COVID-19 in the nearly four months of this pandemic.
There have been 37 “probable” cases listed in the Upper Peninsula. Those are people who do not have a positive test result confirmed, but health officials believe their illnesses or deaths were related to COVID-19.
Statewide, MDHHS lists an additional 8,158 cases and 247 deaths in the “probable” category.
As of Saturday, the state completed 1,672,228 tests, including 195,843 tests for antibodies and 1,476,385 diagnostic tests.
